Time has flown. Somehow I’ve now been in Boston for about three weeks and am studying for my first med school exam. It’s been great so far - awesome classmates, interesting (enough) classes, and really rewarding clinical experiences. Boston has been a ton of fun as well, it’s been nice having enough free time to explore. I’m sure that’ll change soon as classes become tougher, but right now I’m just enjoying the ride.

My first exam is on Monday, and then on Tuesday I’ll be in the OR for the first time, observing some orthopaedic trauma surgeries! Can’t wait.

The only thing I wish I had more time for was cooking. I’ve barely gotten any groceries and I miss preparing my own meals. Although, I’ve been eating pretty well. There is definitely no shortage of great places to eat in this city.

Alright, from now on I’m going to post only original content here. Today marked my first day of medical school and, I’ve got to say, it was pretty fantastic. Student orientation is what you would expect it to be- filled with information you’ve hear a million times, or information that you’ll forget by next week. But, other than that, it’s great. I am not the most talkative, outgoing person and I’ve still found it really easy to talk to my classmates. An incredible journey lies ahead for us and I can’t wait to see what kinds of friendships we form. It’s strange to think that, while today we barely recognize each others’ faces and work hard to remember names, soon we will be a tight bunch. I was also surprised by how many people had taken time off after undergraduate before starting medical school - I feel like I am part of the minority for going straight through.

There is a lot of work ahead. I can’t wait to get started.
